
ULTRASONOGRAPHY
Ultrasound, also known as ultrasonography, is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. The sound waves bounce off tissues and organs, creating an image that can be used to diagnose and monitor a wide range of medical conditions.
During an ultrasound exam, a technician applies a gel to the skin and uses a handheld device called a transducer to send and receive the sound waves. The transducer converts the sound waves into images that can be viewed on a computer screen.
