OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) is a medical specialty that focuses on the care of the female reproductive system, including pregnancy, childbirth, and the management of disorders and diseases of the reproductive organs. Obstetricians specialize in the medical care of pregnant women, while gynecologists focus on the care of the female reproductive system, including the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and cervical cancer. OB/GYN physicians are also trained to provide family planning services, including contraception and sterilization, and they are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. They perform various procedures, such as hysterectomies, tubal ligation, and laparoscopy, to manage gynecological conditions. OB/GYN physicians work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, and maternal-fetal medicine specialists, to provide comprehensive medical care to women throughout their reproductive lives. The goal of obstetrics and gynecology is to improve the overall health and well-being of women by providing high-quality medical care for the female reproductive system.
